Marcus and Melissa Duarte met as young college kids at Montreat-Anderson College and began dating while working together at a local ice cream shop in Black Mountain, N.C. Two years later, they married and began living their culinary dream over the last 20 years. Marcus graduated from the Culinary Arts program at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Institute (Class of 1994) and developed his techniques and style at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove. Following their God-given calling and entrepreneurial instincts, Marcus and Melissa decided in 1998 to embark on a then-unheard-of niche in corporate catering, and their company has since thrived exponentially. Today, Chef Marcus continues a full hands-on approach in his kitchen by innovating seasonal menus, taking orders and scheduling deliveries, and collaborating with the management team. Melissa, with a background in banking, focuses on the payroll, taxes, and weekly accounting operations that keep the company financially vibrant. Not only are Marcus and Melissa equal-share owners of The Red Radish, but they are proud parents of their son, Samuel, and daughter, Sarah Grace.
